An embroidered patch featuring the flag of Yugoslavia, a communist nation that fought for its independence via partisan tactics against the Nazis during World War II. Tito's leadership and the style of socialism enacted had distanced the country from the Soviet and Chinese blocs, but made him a leader amongst the rest of the Non-Aligned Movement during the Cold War. How much of what we know is propaganda from either side? I don't know. What I do know, is that as soon as Tito died— so did millions more in the wars that followed. His socialism threatened the Soviet way of doing things, and going against the "greater good" isolated the nation from China. But maybe his way of doing it was the necessary synthesis that would have prepped Yugoslavia for the next step, had there been a proper infrastructure in place to maintain the plan after Tito passed away.
