A shirt featuring the words Buy Native Art, accompanied by some ornamentation. First and foremost- this isn't Native Art. None of my stuff is. If you want to support me, that's awesome, as I love when people buy things from me because they think what I make is cool. But, if you're looking for a "native-inspired knife" or "tribal blanket" or "mini-totem pole" or whatever other piece of culture you're after- you better buy it from actual Native people. Some white mom in suburbia putting together dream catchers and then selling them on Etsy as "authentic Native art" isn't doing anyone any favors. Buy Native art from Native artists. If you want to make your own dreamcatcher, or your own blanket for personal use, and use Native methods to do it- go right ahead. Preserve their culture, crafts, and languages for time eternal. But don't sell it off to some college party-girl who's looking to appear "spiritual" or some dude-bro who swears he's "like 75% Apache, bro." That is disingenuous.
I also couldn't bring myself to charge what I normally charge, in the hopes that this message gets across. That's why this shirt is selling for exactly what it costs me to procure the blanks and print the design on it. I don't want to make a profit off of this, I just want people to head the message. But if you find a Native-owned store or something that sells clothing that conveys the same message- give your money to them. Even if their shirt is like $40, as long as the money is going to indigenous people, it's better to do that than to get my shirt at-cost.
Also, fuck Columbus.
Made from 100% organic ring-spun cotton, this shirt is going to feel like you're wearing a snug cloud. It's a unisex fit, so no matter which direction your body type leans, you're sure to like the way you look in this puppy. Lacking in polyester, it's not as breathable as our other shirts- so you won't need to wear an undershirt during warmer weather. But some of you wear shorts in winter, so who know what you think is comfortable.
• 100% combed and ring-spun cotton (Heather colors contain polyester)
• Fabric weight: 4.2 oz/yd² (142 g/m²)
• Pre-shrunk fabric
• Side-seamed construction
• Shoulder-to-shoulder taping
• Blank product sourced from Guatemala, Nicaragua, Mexico, Honduras, or the US depending on availability. Original design printed by Red Pawn
